Mozambique Diving

The coastline of Mozambique offers some of the finest diving in the world with untouched coral reefs and an astounding diversity of marine species to discover. A dazzling array of fish, from moray eels and stingrays to barracuda, kingfish and other pelagic gamefish can be spotted whilst diving here in tropical waters that seldom drop below 26c degrees. Above the water dolphins are frequently encountered whilst Humpback Whales can be sighted between August and October. Leatherback, loggerhead and green turtles are often seen in the water, coming ashore to lay their eggs on the sandy island beaches - sometimes right in front of our beach chalet rooms.

The tropical waters of the Quirimbas islands are one of the country's best-kept secrets. Here in clear waters that reach 30c degrees in summer, you will discover a marine ecosystem that is absolutely pristine. Medjumbe Private Island's spectacular coral reef remains little explored, and apart from 12 known dive sites, intrepid divers can set out to explore a host of new dive sites that await discovery. Matemo Island provides excellent diving on coral "bombs" which lie dotted around the island, whilst wreck-diving and an exciting wall dive are for advanced divers wanting a challenge. Pemba Beach Hotel and Spa on the mainland also provides excellent diving with an extensive variety of hard and soft coral and associated marine species to explore.

Further south, within the protected Bazaruto Marine National Park, Indigo Bay Island and Spa offers superb diving, with dazzling soft coral ridges and reefs to explore. A host of exciting dives can be experienced here at sites such as Two-Mile and Five-Mile Reef reef, where reef fish such as Snapper and Surgeon, as well as Potato Bass, Kingfish, Barracuda, Manta Rays and Reef Sharks can be seen.
